Product Details: Everything You Need to Know

This set includes paint masks to replicate four styles and sizes of wing and fuselage insignia commonly used on any B-17. A complete set of 4 masks is provided for each insignia style (2 wing + 2 fuselage) plus one additional spare practice mask for all sizes and styles.

Four styles of US insignia for use on any 1/48 B-17

• Red Outline: In use from June 28, 1943-August 14, 1943 (70" wing and 50" fuselage)
  
• Blue Outline: In use from August 14, 1943-January 14, 1947 (60" wing, 50" & 40" fuselage, outline can be painted a different shade of blue than the inner)
• Blue Outline: In use from August 14, 1943-January 14, 1947 (60" wing and 50" fuselage, outline is painted the same color as the inner)
  
• Yellow Outline (Operation Torch): In use from October 1942-1943 (70" wing and 50" fuselage)

Application Tips and Additional Information

➡️ Spare practice masks are provided for each marking. Check out our Paint Mask Tutorials page for a step-by-step guide on how to use and apply our masks. 

➡️ Transfer tape is included with this set. Transfer tape helps accurately transfer and position masks or decals onto the model's surface, maintaining alignment and design integrity while protecting the mask adhesive. Look for two 3"x6" pieces of transfer tape (clear tape with blue grid lines on a white backing) included with your masks.

This paint mask set is available in your choice of easy-to-apply Oramask 810 flexible vinyl or genuine Tamiya tape.

What's better - vinyl or Tamiya tape?  Both work great! Choose vinyl if you plan to use your masks right away and Tamiya tape if you're tackling your project later on. Check out our FAQs for more info!
