USS Petrof Bay/USS Steamer Bay Cloverleaf Wing & Tail Marking 1/48 Main Marking Paint Masks
Made by Request for a Kit Masx Customer!
We made this set for Dave Woodcock from Washington, USA, who is building a 1/48 Accurate Miniatures/Academy TBF Avenger and Wildcat for display in the Commemorative Air Force Rainier Squadron hangar at the Arlington Airport in Washington.
According to Dave, these aircraft started their wartime journey at Arlington. They were part of Composite Squadron VC-90 and were on CVE 87, one of the smaller Jeep carriers in the Pacific, the Steamer Bay. For this reason, he is honored to create a replica of each for their small museum and we are thrilled to support his work with this custom mask set!
We specialize in making masks for airplane scale models, but our Custom Masks and our Made-to-Order Masking Service are both great options for all your modeling interests from planes to cars, ships, trains, armor, science-fiction, and even Gundam!
Product Details: Everything You Need to Know
This set includes paint masks to replicate the cloverleaf tail and wing marking found on some WWII US Naval aircraft operating from the USS Petrof Bay and USS Steamer Bay, typically FM-2 Wildcats and TBF-1C and TBM-3 Avengers.
The size of the marking is the same for tail and wing, so there are sufficient cloverleaf masks in this one set for two planes (+4 spare practice masks) or three planes (+1 spare practice mask.)
Included in the set:
- 1: Tail and Wing Four-Leaf Clover Marking Masks (x10)
Application Tips and Additional Information
➡️ Some spare practice masks are provided with this set. Check out our Paint Mask Tutorials page for a step-by-step guide on how to use and apply our masks.
➡️ Transfer tape is included with this set. Transfer tape helps accurately transfer and position masks or decals onto the model's surface, maintaining alignment and design integrity while protecting the mask adhesive. Look for two 3"x6" pieces of transfer tape (clear tape with blue grid lines on a white backing) included with your masks.
How to Apply Main Markings Using Transfer Tape
💠 Choose Your Material 💠
This paint mask set is available in your choice of easy-to-apply Oramask 810 flexible vinyl or genuine Tamiya tape.
What's better - vinyl or Tamiya tape? Both work great! Choose vinyl if you plan to use your masks right away and Tamiya tape if you're tackling your project later on. Check out our FAQs for more info!
