Product Details: Everything You Need to Know

This marking set includes precision-cut paint masks to replicate the wing and fuselage Hinomaru, wing walks, serial number, fuselage band and tail markings of the Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero, EI-116, Carrier Shokaku, Dec 7, 1941. This set can be used on any 1/32 Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero.

The Backstory

The A6M2 Model 21 Zero EI-116 served aboard the carrier Shōkaku during the attack on Pearl Harbor. On December 7, 1941, it launched with Shōkaku’s fighter group to escort the first-wave strike aircraft and protect them from interception. As part of one of the most formidable carrier air wings of the era, EI-116 represents the Zero at the height of its early-war dominance—fast, agile, and central to Japan’s opening blow in the Pacific.

Application Tips and Additional Information

➡️ Spare practice masks are provided. Check out our Paint Mask Tutorials page for a step-by-step guide on how to use and apply our masks.

➡️ We include transfer tape with your set! Transfer tape helps accurately transfer and position masks or decals onto the model's surface, maintaining alignment and design integrity while protecting the mask adhesive. Look for two 3"x6" pieces of transfer tape included with your masks. How to Apply Main Markings Using Transfer Tape

➡️ Some small stencil data and other tiny markings will need to be used from your kit’s decal sheet, as these details are too small to cut cleanly in either Tamiya tape or vinyl. Please refer to the product image for a clear breakdown of what’s included in this mask set. Refer to Tamiya kit # 60317 instructions for placement and color call outs.

🌟 Choose Your Material 🌟

This marking set is available in your choice of easy-to-apply Oramask 810 flexible vinyl or genuine Tamiya tape.

What's better - vinyl or Tamiya tape? Both work great! Choose vinyl if you plan to use your masks right away and Tamiya tape if you're tackling your project later on. Check out our FAQ for more info!
